Impact-driven and forward-looking, Giovanni Longo is a strategic risk and sustainability leader with over a decade of experience working at the intersection of sustainability, risk, and business transformation. He currently serves as Head of ESG and Climate at a Europe based energy company, where he leads enterprise-wide ESG strategy, climate risk assessment and climate transition plan, and CSRD implementation with a strategic focus on supporting the company’s transformation in the context of the energy transition with long-term value creation, risk-adjusted returns, and capital resilience.
Giovanni has held senior ESG and strategic risk roles in several countries and across global organisations including Ferrero, Cargill, and UniCredit, with experience spanning energy, agrifood, consumer goods, and financial services. His work focuses on integrating sustainability into investment decisions, governance, and operating models to support the energy and business transition in a pragmatic, value-driven way.
Giovanni holds an advanced academic background in economics, risk, and sustainable finance, including an Executive Certificate in High Impact Leadership from the University of Cambridge (CISL) and a Certified Expert qualification in Sustainable Finance from Frankfurt School of Finance & Management. He also completed a postgraduate Risk Management diploma with SDA Bocconi underpinned by a Master’s degree in Economics (magna cum laude).
