Erik Petrovskis is Director of Environmental Compliance and Sustainability at Meijer. He joined Meijer in 2014 after 20 years as an environmental consultant serving automotive, food, and chemical industries. At Meijer, Erik is responsible for environmental due diligence, remediation, compliance, and sustainability. Within sustainability, his efforts are focused on carbon reduction, food waste reduction, circular economy, and Great Lakes stewardship. Under Erik’s leadership, Meijer has been recognized by Progressive Grocer as a Top 10 Most Sustainable Grocer. Meijer has also been recognized by the West Michigan Sustainable Business Forum and Southwest Michigan Sustainable Business Forum as a Sustainable Business of the Year. Erik serves as an Adjunct Associate Professor at the University of Michigan School for Environment & Sustainability and is also a member of the Erb Michigan Business Sustainability Roundtable. He holds a PhD in environmental engineering from The University of Michigan and is a licensed Professional Engineer. Erik is a frequently invited speaker on corporate environmental management. In 2022, he was named the Grand Rapids Business Journal Newsmaker of the Year in Sustainability. Erik was awarded the Meijer President’s Award in 2023 and the Northern Michigan Environmental Action Council Environmentalist of the Year Award in Business in 2024.
