Ruth MacGilp is a senior climate campaigner with expertise in strategic communications for corporate accountability, industrial decarbonisation and in particular, sustainable fashion.
She leads research, campaign and advocacy work on the fashion industry at Action Speaks Louder, a global non-profit organisation dedicated to accelerating the transition from fossil fuels to renewable energy by holding companies accountable for their climate impacts. Currently, a key focus of this work is supporting the growing potential for electrification technologies, such as industrial heat pumps, to decarbonise manufacturing sectors, including textiles.
Ruth previously managed communications for fashion activism movement Fashion Revolution, and her writing, podcasting and digital content about the intersection of fashion, labour and climate justice have been widely published over the past decade. She is also currently undertaking a master’s degree in Degrowth at Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona, with a focus on environmental justice and energy systems.
