Anwarul Islam serves as the General Manager and Group Head of Sustainability at Pacific Jeans Group, one of Bangladesh’s most innovative and sustainability-driven apparel manufacturers. With more than 20 years of experience spanning sustainability, compliance, HR, and supply chain management, he leads the Group’s ESG strategy across 10 manufacturing units and 35,000 employees. His work centres on embedding sustainability into core business operations—advancing decarbonization, strengthening water and chemical stewardship, and fostering robust worker well-being and social dialogue systems.
Anwarul is a certified SA 8000 auditor, Lead Auditor for ISO 14001 and ISO 45001, and Internal Auditor for ISO 9001. He has worked closely with global brands including Uniqlo, GAP, H&M, PVH, AEO, C&A, Levi’s, TESCO, and Inditex to meet rigorous environmental and social standards and to accelerate collective progress on circularity, traceability, and supply chain resilience.
A frequent international speaker, Anwarul has contributed to leading global platforms such as the amfori Annual Event in Berlin, the Sustainable Apparel and Textiles Conference in Amsterdam, and several overseas brand-led programs. His deep operational experience, both in Bangladesh and internationally, enables him to bring a pragmatic, solutions-oriented perspective to advancing scalable and industry-wide sustainability transformation.
