Joanna Addison is currently the Global Sector Leader, Energy/Energy Transition for Linklaters. Prior to joining Linklaters, Joanna was Head of Legal for Shell in Qatar and sat on the Qatar Shell Country Leadership Team. As part of these roles she has been responsible for strategising the future viability of the businesses in a low carbon environment.
She has practiced law in the global energy industry for over twenty years, representing sovereign energy companies and international energy companies in the project development, operations, and acquisition and disposal of all aspects of the energy value chain, as well as development initiatives designed to support large infrastructure projects. Although currently based in London, she has strong international experience having worked globally for most of her career, as well as having lived in the Middle East for twenty years.
She is passionate about helping others and has championed various Senior Women’s mentoring circles, and acted as advisor and coach on several leadership programmes. In her current role she is part of a peer-mentoring partnership between business and school leaders to help school leaders enhance leadership skills and drive social mobility, and she also mentors businesses in Africa, focusing on sustainability. She is currently a POWERful Women Ambassador, helping to drive their initiative working for a diverse and inclusive energy sector.
