Jeremiah Lim

Director, Head of Carbon and Sustainable Fuels EMEA, Energy Transition Investment Banking

Barclays

Jeremiah leads the Carbon & Sustainable Fuels Investment Banking franchise within Barclays Energy Transition group (ETG) – Barclays’ integrated business covering power, conventional and new energies. He is responsible for origination and structuring of M&A, financing and equity investment transactions across the carbon infrastructure value chain – from developers of carbon capture (point of source or ambient air capture), transportation, storage and utilisation in fuels in combination with electrolytic hydrogen. Jeremiah is also senior banker for ETG’s structured finance practice and leads origination of innovative financing solutions for energy transition clients.

Jeremiah previously started and led Barclays’ Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) Structuring business, which firstly developed and structured bespoke ESG indices and structured products for sustainability-focussed investors. In this role, he led the launch of Barclays Green and Social Structured Notes programme, and sustainability-focussed co-investment platforms with UK Infrastructure Bank and institutional investors including Swiss Re. He also led private markets transaction climate technology pioneers; this second competency was bought over in the formation of ETG.

Earlier in his career, Jeremiah held roles in securitisation and structured credit, where he was a core member of the team which established the Barclays’ Colonnade and Churchill synthetic securitisation programmes as the largest synthetic credit risk sharing platform globally. He has also worked on loan repackages of infrastructure and project debt, master risk participation agreements and other structured credit and asset-backed transactions.

Jeremiah read BSc (hons) in Economics, Politics and International Studies at the University of Warwick and MSt in Sustainability Leadership from the University of Cambridge.
